Combined Engineering Services ( CES ) Exam is conducted by UPSC every year for recruiting personals in central government engineering services in 4 core areas of engineering, those are:
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering
CES Exam Eligibility Criteria:
Nationality: candidate should be Indian national or citizen of Nepal /Bhutan / Refugee from Tibbet / an Indian origin candidate who has migrated from Pakistan or Burma or Sri lanka or East African countries or Vietnam and now want to be settled permanently in India.
Age Limit: candidate should be minimum 21 years in age and maximum 30 years in age on 1st of august of the year in which he is going to appear in the entrance exam. How ever, for cast based reserved categories and other reservations some relaxation in upper age limit is given.
Educational Requirements: candidate should have passed graduation in engineering from a recognized university or equivalent or candidate is holding AMIE degree from IEI or candidate have passed examination for graduate membership from Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers / Electronics and Radio Engineers, London or have passed associate membership from Institution of Mechanical Engineers / Aeronautical Society of India.
CES Exam Selection Procedure:
CES entrance test is divided into two parts :
- Written test
- Personality Interview
Written Test is again comprised of two sections. Section 1 is consisting of objective type questions and its duration is 2 hours and section 2 is 3 hrs paper of subjective type where syllabus is based on relevant branch of engineering.
Personality Interview: candidates who qualify written test will be called for personality interview and here questions will be framed in such a way so that candidate’s personality can be judged.
