UPSC Combined section officers/Stenographers (Grade B/ Grade I) Limited Departmental Competative Examination 2009, 2010 and 2011

 In super-session of the Commission’s Notice dated 01.10.2011 notifying the above examination for the year 2009 which was postponed, a Combined Limited Departmental Competitive Examination for Section Officers’ Grade and Stenographers’ Grade I/Grade ‘B’ will be held by the Union Public Service Commission commencing on the 15th December, 2012 at CHENNAI, DELHI, KOLKATA MUMBAI and NAGPUR in accordance with the Rules published by the Department of Personnel and Training in the Gazette of India dated the 15th September, 2012.The following vacancies are available at UPSC

c. Date of Examination: 15.12.2012
d. Duration of Exam: 4 Days

Union Public Service Commission holds a Combined Limited Departmental Competitive Examination for additions in the Select Lists for the Section Officers’ Grade and Stenographers’ Grade-I/Grade ‘B’ of the services like

  1. Section Officers’ Grade of Central Secretariat Service.
  2. Section Officers’ Grade (Integrated Grade II & III) of General Cadre of Indian Foreign Service, Branch ‘B’.
  3. Section Officers’ Grade of Railway Board Secretariat Service
  4. Grade ‘A’ & ‘B’ merged of Central Secretariat Stenographers’ Service.
  5. Grade-I of the Stenographers’ Cadre of Indian Foreign Service, Branch ‘B’.
  6. Grade ‘A’ & ‘B’ merged of Armed Forces Headquarters Stenographers’ Service.
  7. Grade ‘B’ of the Railway Board Secretariat Stenographers’ Service.
  8. Section Officers’ Grade of the Intelligence Bureau.
  9. Section Officers’ Grade of Armed Forces Head Quarters Civil Service.

Eligibility:

Only certain categories of departmental candidates who are employed as Assistants or Stenographers’ Grade ‘C’/Grade II of these Services or as Cypher Assistants Grade II of Cypher Sub-cadre of the Indian Foreign Service Branch‘B’ are eligible to apply for this examination.

Educational Qualification: No specific educational qualification prescribed.

Age Limit: No age limit prescribed. The examination is confined to serving Central Government Employees working as Assistant in the Assistant Grade of the Central Secretariat Service. Railway Board Sectt. Service, Intelligence Bureau, Armed Forces headquarters Civil Services; or Stenographer Grade-C of the Central Secretariat.

Scheme of Exam:

Part A

Candidates have to appear in the following conventional (Essay Type) papers;

1) Noting and drafting, precis writing.

2) (i) Procedure and Practice in Government of India Secretariat and Attached offices. (For Categories I, II and IX)
(ii) Procedure and Practice in Government of India Secretariat and Attached offices. (For Categories IV, V and VI)
(iii) Procedure and Practice in Government of India Secretariat and Attached offices. (For Categories VII only)
(iv) Office Procedure and Practice (For Category III)(v)Office Procedure and Practice (For Category VII)

3) (i) General Knowledge of the constitution of India and the Machinery of Government, Practice and Procedure in Parliament (for categories I, II, III and IX)
(ii) General Knowledge of the constitution of India and the Machinery of Government, Practice and Procedure in Parliament (for categories IV, V,VI and VII)

4) (i) General Financial and Service Rules, (For Category I)
(ii) General Financial and Service Rules, (For Category II)
(iii) General Financial and Service Rules, (For Category III)
(iv) General Financial and Service Rules, (For Category V)
(v) General Regulations and Service Rules, (For Category VI)
(vi) Financial Regulations and Service Rules, (For Category IX)

Part B

Assessment of 5 years CRs (100 Marks)

Application Form:

Application Form can be obtainable from Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069 by remitting the requisite amount by Money Order or on Cash payment at U.P.S.C. Counter. Candidates must clearly state on Money Order coupons “S.Os’/Stenographers’ (Grade ‘B’/Grade-I) Limited Departmental Competitive Examination”‘ and also give their names and full postal addresses in block letters. Payment by any other mode viz. Indian Postal Orders, Cheque, Currency notes, etc. is not acceptable in lieu of Money Order.
